Sito Moresco Langhe DOC 2021 Gaja

The “Sito Moresco” from the Gaja winery is an intense and complex red wine produced in Barbaresco, in the province of Cuneo, Piedmont. This wine is crafted from a blend that predominantly features the longevity and complexity of the Nebbiolo grape, combined with the pleasant acidity of Barbera and the fullness of Merlot, resulting in an expression of great harmony and elegance. The vineyards are traditionally trained using the Guyot method on enchanting hills with exceptional exposures, located over 300 meters above sea level. The winery, now managing around 90 hectares of vineyards, is a historic family-run business that has made a mark on the global wine scene through relentless quality pursuit, renewing traditions while incorporating new production techniques to stay current with intelligence and insight. The Sito Moresco is produced from carefully selected grapes that are hand-harvested at the peak of their ripeness. The clusters are taken to the winery, where they are delicately destemmed and pressed, followed by alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with frequent pump-overs and a few weeks of skin maceration. After fermentation, the wine is separated from the skins and pressed, then aged for at least 12 months in stainless steel containers before being bottled, where it continues to mature for several months before being released for sale.
