Pessac Leognan – Chateau Carbonnieux Blanc 2021 Grand Cru Clasee
Château Carbonnieux was founded in the 13th century by Benedictine monks from the Abbey of Sainte-Croix. Located in the Pessac-Léognan appellation, it is one of the oldest châteaux in Bordeaux. In 1956, Marc Perrin purchased the château, and in 1959, it became a classified estate for both red and white wines. Château Carbonnieux 2021 is a wine from Pessac-Léognan, produced from a vineyard spread across a mosaic of soils ranging from calcareous clay to Günzian gravel. Forty-five hectares are dedicated to white grape varieties, with an average vine age of 30 years. The entire vineyard holds the High Environmental Value (HEV) certification at level 3 and is farmed using organic methods. The grapes are hand-harvested and selected both on the vine and on a sorting table before undergoing gentle pneumatic pressing and cold decantation. Fermentation occurs in barrels and vats before maturation in barrels (25% of which are new oak) for approximately 10 months, with regular stirring. This Château Carbonnieux Blanc 2021 is a blend of 67% Sauvignon Blanc and 33% Semillon.
