Champagne Extra Brut Gosset

Gosset presents its Extra Brut Champagne, an elegant yet immediate sparkling wine that effectively introduces the style and imprint of the oldest House in Champagne. To trace the roots of this Négociant Manipulant from Aÿ, we must go back over four centuries, specifically to the distant year 1584, when Pierre Gosset vinified the first grapes. Until the 18th century, the production consisted solely of still wines, mostly reds, and it was during this period that Simon Gosset decided to create one of the region’s first sparkling wines. All labels are presented in the ancient Champagne bottle used in the 1700s, and in the cellar, malolactic fermentation is avoided to preserve the wine's natural freshness and fruity character. Gosset’s Extra Brut Cuvée is made from a blend of classic Champagne grape varieties: Pinot Noir (40%), Pinot Meunier (32%), and Chardonnay (28%). The first fermentation takes place in steel without malolactic fermentation. Afterward, the base wine undergoes secondary fermentation in the bottle following the Classic Method, with aging sur lie for at least 48 months, followed by an additional 6-9 months of resting in the underground caves after disgorging and Extra Brut dosage. In the glass, Gosset Extra Brut Champagne presents a bright straw-yellow color with fine, persistent perlage. The aromatic spectrum is vast, with inviting and fragrant notes of white-fleshed fruit, citrus, plums, and white flowers, blending with hints of dried fruit. On the palate, it is creamy, lively, and deep, very tense and with great minerality. In the Maison’s vision, this sparkling wine is meant to be an expression without adornment, to be enjoyed on any occasion paired with fish tartare.
