Barbera D'Alba Brichet DOC 2022 Ca'Viola

The Barbera d’Alba “Brichet” from the Ca’ Viola winery is an elegant rendition of this popular Piedmontese red. The excellent quality of the grapes and a very careful vinification process with minimal enological intervention allow the grape variety to express itself at its best, offering a red wine of extraordinary drinkability—fresh, fragrant, balanced, and harmonious. This Barbera is ideal for those wanting to experience the true character of the grape and the authentic essence of the territory. It is a label that enchants with its versatility at the table, pairing beautifully with pasta dishes featuring meat or game sauces, baked pasta, or roasts of white meats. “Brichet” is a Barbera d’Alba that originates from the estate of one of Piedmont's most talented winemakers and oenologists, Beppe Caviola. He established the Ca’ Viola winery in the early 1990s, aiming to enhance the classic grape varieties of the region. He produces a range of wines characterized by great elegance, capable of interpreting the terroir at its best. The estate is managed with the utmost respect for the environment, using only copper, sulfur, and organic fertilizers, without resorting to chemical treatments. The Barbera vines are about 20 years old and are cultivated in the hilly area of Montelupo Albese, at an altitude of about 400 meters above sea level. The medium-textured soils of calcareous-clay origin are particularly suitable for red grape varieties, which express themselves with an intense and elegant personality. Fermentation is spontaneous, utilizing only indigenous yeasts, with a maceration period of two to three weeks on the skins. Before bottling, the wine matures for 15 months in large oak barrels and second- and third-use barriques, ensuring that the Barbera is not burdened with heavy wood notes.
