The Barbera d'Asti Lavignone is produced by Pico Maccario, a winery founded in 1997 by brothers Pico and Vitaliano Maccario. They produce wines from the main Piedmont denominations: Langhe, Monferrato, Gavi, Barolo, and Barbaresco. It is made exclusively from Barbera grapes, which are destemmed and gently crushed. Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled steel vats, with maceration on the skins lasting 10-12 days. The resulting wine is then aged in steel for 9 months, followed by an additional 4 months of bottle aging.
