Barbaresco DOCG 2020 Rocca Albino

The Barbaresco by Albino Rocca represents tradition, embodying the style of the winery and the ancient customs of the Langhe region. Before the Burgundy-inspired awareness of terroir and the valorization of individual crus became prevalent, producers often blended grapes from various vineyards, each with distinct yet complementary characteristics, to create a harmonious and balanced wine. This bottle preserves that practice and almost pedagogically expresses the character of Nebbiolo from the Barbaresco area—elegant, refined, and exceptionally pleasurable on the palate. The Barbaresco from Albino Rocca is the result of a long-standing tradition. The Rocca family has been cultivating vineyards in the Langhe since the 1940s, initially selling their grapes before bottling their own wine, driven by the desire to enhance their estate. This wine is made from grapes harvested from the estate's youngest vineyards, which are about 15-20 years old, located in the municipalities of Barbaresco, Neive, and S. Rocco Seno d'Elvio, at altitudes between 240 and 310 meters above sea level, with southern, southeast, and southwest exposures. The soils vary slightly from parcel to parcel but share a common matrix characterized by calcareous-clay marl, with some sandy and sandstone components. After classic fermentation with maceration on the skins, the wine matures for at least 20 months in German and Austrian oak barrels before completing its aging in the bottle.
