Barbaresco DOCG 2020 Fletcher

The sip is austere, incisive in the tannic part, yet always rich and enveloping, just touched by a hint of wood that is being integrated. It is a quirky Barbaresco, with particular immediacy, characterized by a slightly “ruffian” style that makes it appealing even for newcomers... provided they can find it! Excellent aging potential. CURIOSITY: The name Fletcher does not exactly evoke thoughts of classic-style Barbaresco, nor does it bring to mind anything even remotely Italian. However, if tasted without the label in sight, there is no chance that anyone could guess it was the work of a young Australian. In fact, it would not be a stretch to think that it was made by a seventy-year-old winemaker in the twilight of his career, with an interpretation learned from decades of noise and experimentation, evolving into beauty, balance, and a sweet, timeless melody.
